The 1st. Canyelles Xatonada Popular was a big success

Around 800 portions of Xató were eaten at the First Canyelles Xatonada Populat on Sunday
3 April. In addition, those present in Parc Casal, located in the village ancient center, were
treated with music, presentations, performances , confetti , and Xató. All present had the chance to sample Xató made by the restaurants Can Manelet, Cal Tano, La Masia de Canyelles, La Pedrera i Pou Nou . Omelettes were made by Bar Can Roca with artisanal “botifarra” from Queviures “El Déu”. Wine and cava were provided by Grau Roca.
In spite of the inclement weather, a large number of people turned out to take part in the various different activities planed for the ocasion such as the presentation of the first Canyelles Touristic brochure, which was presented by Conce Selvas, Canyelles councillor with responsability for the Touristic Promotion. The day’s programme got under way with the welcoming ceremony specially devoted to the well-known actress and Xató Route Ambassador , Rosa Andreu; Xavier Robert, Mayor of Canyelles, and to the local promotors as ARCAT- Canyelles ( Associació de Restaurants, Comerços i Activitas Turístiques).By the way, they have released a new logo.
Following this, all the present enjoyed the exhibition of the group of demons “Canyafonts” and the street procession performed by El Govern de Catalunya theatre company.
As Canyelles joined the route in February this year, they took the opportunity to show local best products. However, all products used to make Xató were from Canyelles, as well as all the other products you found there.

The Canyelles Xatonada Popular is the last of the many differents gastronomic and cultural events organized since January by the municipalities belonging to the Xató Route .
